He takes penalties, Richy doesnt and has a major influence on the team when he plays in a similar way to Grealish would've done on Villa - to some extent at least.

They're not really comparable in any meaningful way.

Everyone is acting like we have loads of options, we have a threadbare squad.

When Gray got injured a few weeks back we all panicked as he's one of our only attacking players. Gordon is looking good but we cant put too much pressure on him and Richarlison is way too inconsistent and for all Townsends efforts he is past his best days.

This transfer might not excite everyone but it has very little negatives to it and it might work out. Our bench is shocking too. I really don't get the issue.

Everyone said the same about Gray before he signed too.

Yeah but the position Lucas actually plays in he has let us down badly at, and we have two players who can play there now, Godfrey who is much better at it and the new lad who played well at the weekend, its the reason we needed him out, he cant defend.

I'm not convinced by that. This whole he cant defend narrative seems to be from the same school of thinking as Gueye "cant pass a ball".

The reason he has gone is because he has a falling out with the manager, which is fine, it's not because he can't defend, he wouldn't have played every game before his falling out otherwise.
