Anyone play Sunday league on here?

You reckon the season is gonna get binned off? Was supposed to have my first league match on Saturday. Currently it’s still scheduled to go ahead but I can’t see the season lasting more than a few weeks at best unfortunately.
I’m not sure of the new regulations etc but I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets set back again and we have an even shorter season. Our season starts on the 27th so a good couple of weeks for stuff to happen. I live in Leicestershire and we play in the Leicester alliance league and some of the city centre pitches are still not allowing Social distancing,so I think we’l struggle anyway with Leicester being one of the worst hit places

Can't understand why amateur footy fell away, I used to play Saturday at a decent standard and Sunday with my mates.
You haven't lived until you have played Dengo Utd and had to get changed in the boiler room of some flats on the estate.
Couple of hundred on the line screaming for your head.
Walton jail and Ashworth both used to have teams, you would be escorted to the pitch by warders and told to back off if there was any trouble and let them sort it....... No problemo there :)

Sounds interesting haha

We had a game Thursday night instead of this Sunday. Had a unbelievable turn out of 19 (should of been 21 but 2 didn’t turn up) cracking game against a team we ground share with and won 2-0.... one of the best performances in along long time and we kept a clean sheet for once. Everyone was happy apart from the odd player who was like I hope we ain’t getting 8 subs every week and I ain’t sitting on the bench etc (but il guarantee it’ll be the same players who moan when we get bare 11 on a cold winters morning ). Had a couple of the decent players back which made a big difference ( 1 used to be ex Wycombe and the other played semi pro). Cracking win overall.

I have to say that considering the state of the infection rate up and down the country forcing pubs and restaurants to shut again, how they can let amateur footie continue to is beyond me.

its only a matter of time before it does stop again but its being operated well, same track and trace systems in place like pubs and restaurants, so if ones happening why shouldn't the other?

because the chance of passing on the virus is obviously much higher when sweating and Grappling with each other than it is when you’re sat in a pub with the correct social distancing rules in place.

Also so far not one game in our league has had to be postponed due to teams self isolating which is the correct protocol if one player tests positive for the virus. Call me cynical but I find it hard to believe that out of 18 teams that not one has had a single case in the first 6 weeks of the season.

There’s currently no footy being played in wales below the welsh premier league as far as I’m aware, my club play in tier 2 and are not allowed to play any other team at moment.

I used to love playing and enjoy competition as much as the next guy, but when someone put their foot up on my shin while I was taking a shot ... I figured, this just ain't worth it. The ref didn't even give a foul of course ...

I then started playing cricket instead which can give you some nasty injuries too, but that's mostly due to my errors rather than someone else. It's also a fantastic social game.

I played cricked until I was 27 where I did my ACL at football and I wish I’d stuck to cricket, hardly play football now just manage and name myself as a sub if needed. The refs are poor on sundays there too scared to make a big call wether it’s a red or blatant penalty. We used to have a lad who was a good footballer but his tackles were horrendous and I only ever saw him get 2 reds in 4 seasons which is mad.

Yeah, I'm OK with players being aggressive, but some players are just reckless. That's the fear I had. How can you enjoy playing when the next flying tackle maybe just around the corner?

I know a GK who almost got broken in half on one-on-ones too. A heavy touch from the striker (on what are admittedly poor pitches) and the GK is tempted out and then the striker lunges for it. Horrible situations.

Still, keep the management going pal! I'm sure there are many that appreciate it.
