There‘s an amazing amount of super sleuthing going on here. Here’s my two cents for what they are worth. What do we actually know? We know there was a club statement (the timing stunk) and we know this has been given a little more detail by a journalist crediting the detail of the physical interaction to unnamed sources. We know the advice to stay away was from security advisors and not the police who are ‘working with the club’.
It is now incumbent for the club to release a statement - not releasing a statement to shed further light on this is irresponsible. Not releasing a statement also undermines their the statement they released on Saturday. I understand the cynicism that this is a distraction technique from the Bill Kenwright ‘playbook’ but the reality is it may be genuine. Members of an unhappy fan base can at times act in ways which are not appropriate. I would ask this simple question though. Apart from the obvious demands for evidence, if there had been an allegation of this when we say, fighting for Europe, or at another club, (where there would be no protest) would people have been so quick to dismiss of question the veracity of the allegation?
No need mate, if any person recieves death threats, if a business see's one of their female employees assaulted they contact the police?@GrandOldTeam can we get a simple "Yes, No, Cheese on Toast" poll to gauge people's opinions about whether they currently believe this headlock incident happened based on the information we currently have?
I’m desperately trying to work out what might have happened 11 days agoHearing the club are going to issue a statement tonight.
So we can now expect an apology from Ian Wright???It's not just local news now, it's national in every paper and news channel. I applaud Merseyside police for their statement, they didn't really need to do it.
Anyway, it puts to bed the theory the headlock incident was kept quiet because of a criminal investigation.
The noose tightens! Hope they are squirming.
Yep, very true. Bang on time too it seems if this statement by the club tonight happens. Full on panic mode.Merseyside Police have done more for Everton fans in 1 statement than Bill Kenwright has in 30 years
Actually it's a statement signing.Hearing the club are going to issue a statement tonight.
