I don't get the bit why they're saying Southampton game was classed as high risk in consultation with Merseyside Police. Wouldn't Merseyside police have come out and confirmed this was the case when they made their previous statement this morning?

Plus if it was classed as high risk, wouldn't there have been a bigger police presence after the game just in case the result went tits up.

It will have been high risk due to the planned protest. I said earlier that all matches are arranged with close consultation with the police, even more so when protests are planned.

The fact they never raised any of the incidents or threats with the police through that planning (as per the police statement) is a huge dereliction of duty and safeguarding.
