Well I’m both very saddened and very angered to hear of that. Do people think these occurrences of abuse raise questions regarding the safety of Goodison specifically or of wider society in general?

Can you point me to any other threads on here with nearly 70 pages of people calling out the club to disclose any details of these incidents of assault amid fears for female safety?

Let’s not kid ourselves here…The honest consensus is that Goodison is as safe now as it has ever been. An alleged headlock of a CEO lacking credibility doesn’t change people’s opinions of that.

I believe the headlock was a a fake story. Fighting it with fake outrage is not the answer.
When there’s fans on the Everton twitter spaces threatening to visit the players and directors homes if this situation starts to get worse then you’re gonna be worried. After seeing the bedsheet brigade put threatening messages outside Benitez house then you take this seriously.

Well you’d like to think so wouldn’t you. Unless she’s asked not to make an issue of it and it’s been released without her consent.

Whoever has released it against her wishes for no reason other than to defame the fans is simply a disgrace in that instance. Why would they not want to ban the individual and ensure the safety of fans at the match anyway?

I’m not entirely sure how those incidents support a significant increase in concern amongst fans for our own safety? They are clearly incidents of disillusioned supporters specifically targeting club personnel to whom they feel aggrieved.

I think we’re in agreement, that there are (and has always been) a tiny minority of scum looking to cause trouble in any football club fan base. There are also a fraction of normally good people who can be unduly influenced by alcohol and angry crowd mentality, bringing out behaviours that they wouldn’t normally be capable of displaying. It’s been around in football for as long as I have followed the game, but thankfully at a generally decreasing trend.

I’ll say it again, a poorly alleged headlock on a CEO doesn’t change people’s impression of how safe Goodison is to attend as a fan, so let’s not pretend like it does.

Edit - Any fan who feels that their safety is unacceptably compromised following a weak allegation of an isolated incident on a club staff member, please can you donate your ticket to an appropriate charity for auction. Thanks.

There’s been 2 incidents of girls being sexually assaulted in the ground this season.
I believe it was sexual harassment, not sexual assault. Whilst I’m absolutely not condoning that, I thought it best just to make that clear, as there is quite a big difference between the two offences.

Edit: there has actually been one case of sexual assault reported at Goodison recently, it was last season, but it was actually a female Man City fan sexually assaulting a male Everton fan.

I’m sure if anything did happen they would have his name and address and could have pursued the matter. Anyway apparently someone spoke to him?
Well that person who was spoken to must undoubtedly realise that there's decent money to be made by telling his version of events.

A valid distinction to make.

It would be interesting to see data on incidents like this. Is there is any increasing trend of female harassment at Goodison that people who previously felt safe enough to attend matches should now be concerned about? If there is, then can it be attributed to the increased number of women who attend matches these days? Or perhaps it would be down to the evolution of our reporting culture whereby things that used to get brushed off simply as matchday banter in times gone by are now having their perpetrators rightfully held to account?

Who knows... but I strongly suspect the vast majority of people on this forum calling for an open investigation into the DBB headlock are not doing so for the advancement of female fan safety. It's purely a fake outrage to pressurise the board into incriminating themselves further by giving more details on this that we all can then pick apart and disprove their authenticity even further. Let's be bigger than that.
