Are Everton Still A Big Club ?

Dont' care if we're big, as long as we're successful. I do know ex-pats that support other clubs have no issue coming up to me if I've got one of my Everton tops on and their eyes light up when they hear a yank say "football", although they love to try and out you at first in the hope that you're really just "one of those". The worst, so far, was an Arsenal supporter...he grilled me for a good 20 mins and then he lightened up.

One way to know would be to try and figure this out: If the mega rich clubs (atm) like Man U, Barca, Real Madrid, decided to forgo their domestic leagues and form a full-time European Superleague with 20 members and 38 fixtures, would we get an invite?

Hell no.

Real
Barcelona
United
City
Arsenal
Chelsea
Liverpool
Juventus
Milan
Inter
Basel
Benfica
Ajax
Bayern
B. Leverkusen
Dortmund
Porto
Lille
Marseille
Schalke

There's other teams that would fit in there ahead of us too.

In England yes

Worldwide no
This is a good point imo. I think it's a question of perception of the club from outside the fanbase not only from inside. And I'm not talking about media or some tit of a manager on the wind up. How do opposing fans in Britain see us? In Spain, the vast majority of people are surprised to hear that we have more league titles than Chelsea, Spurs and Newcastle. Global television saturation kicked off after our glory period unfortunately.

I think the term that used to be used and for me is very relevant to us is

'a sleeping giant'

football is about cycles(or was before money ruled), our last cycle was cut short due to our rivals shenanigans abroad but we are the mighty EVERTON and we will rise from footballing obscurity(or mid table prem with no money)

Hell no.

Um, you what now???

Um, you what now???

I think I may have to draw up a sig strip for that one.

"Basel - a club that hasn't even won the Swiss league more often than it's domestic rivals and whose club legend is Scott Chipperfield - are a bigger club than Everton."

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Its not about being a big club anymore, its about how rich you are.

Yup thats true to a degree but if we're honest the way ANY club should be counted as a "big club" is in terms of trophies won in say the last 10 to 15 years and also if we're honest going by that criteria then no we're not a big club and haven't been for many years.

And that makes me equally angry and sad.
