Walsh's job here is different to what he was doing at Leicester. His remit seems to be broader than a chief scout would be so he's presumably tasked with both bringing in the players Koeman wants for the here and now, but also is looking at the future ... hence all the kids we're signing.

I can see where you are coming from with the Benteke shout.

Money wise I'd guess we could probably afford one of Benteke or Siggurdsson. Giroud would be cheaper than Benteke but older and that's a factor to consider. I suppose he fits the target man role that Koeman is looking to fill.

I personally would take Giroud and Siggy over Benteke and Jonathan Viera(as an example of another linked attacking mid). I'd say the prices for both combinations would be similar.
