I was interested to read this from forum stalwart @davek in the DCL thread (go figure)

"IMO the threat to our identity needed to be hammered home and I think sustained that, as most people accept that the threat is real and we need to be aware of it and counter it."

Re: the bold bit, are you most people?

(@mods I really wanted to put this in main Everton forum but thought better of it. Feel free to move it there for greater visibility, maybe that's where 'most people' hang out)

What is our identity? And where has it gotten us? It's going to be a minimum of 30 years between winning silverware, we have been and are currently a PL tool to show other clubs what punishment looks like.. we have been horrifically run for decades.. our finances are a mess.. is this our identity? The best run thing about the club is EITC which is great but the rest of the club needs to get its act together for that to be maintained..
NOTHING BUT THE BEST IS GOOD ENOUGH.. should be our identity.... but we haven't been anywhere near that for quite some time.

I think it's an arbitrary statement by a known madman with no explanation on what our identity is, but for the record, whilst I dislike our football teams current level of quality, I think i identify heavily with Everton moreso than ever due to the deductions nonsense we've endured last season

I dont care what our identity is, was, or is suppose to be. All i want is Everton to do better than we have done at any cost (In reason of course).

Don't really believed in a football club living by an 'identity'.

What does it really mean? There are things around the club that we value, like Everton in the community.

I think what we do around the community has never wavered, so if this is what is meant then we have never lost our 'identity'. If it is about what happens on the pitch then one single 'identity' has never been the case.

I think an individual supporter has to ask the question whether they still identify with the club. Everybody is free to walk away at any time if it all gets too much for them.

That's 100% correct.

The point Dave is making is what identity we have will be erased due to the Friedkin takeover.

I'm genuinely curious to know if other agree with him, he claims 'most' do, I disagree.

That fact that 100% have voted no suggests they don't, but it's an incredibly small sample size. Face it, only weirdos come into the Ale House.

Mods, please move it. Ta.

Not sure what our identity is to be honest. If we do have one there’s a chance it’s not a positive given what the club is/has been like.
