It could just be we don’t value Cornet as highly as others do.
If someone is willing to offer substantially more than the release clause and we don’t think there’s value at that price it’s right that we walk away and look elsewhere.
At least that’s one alternative reading of the situation.

If that was the case i'd guess they'd hoped to loan Broja and buy Cornet, but by all accounts Broja has pushed for a move and West Ham have bid real money, so maybe we're trying to flip it on its head and do it the other way round. No idea if that's the case obviously but it's possible. We have been linked with reasonably big bids for players and Moshiri made (another) rod for his own back with the 'judge us at the end of the window' comment so I'm not as convinced as some are that's there's no money there, I just think they're trying to be careful with it for once.

This is what I’d like to believe, but I fear it’s more wishful thinking than anything. You might well be right and Cornet is seen as a “bonus” rather than a top target. I think at some point our hand might be forced into playing our hand to get the target we want, and we’ll be left with no money afterwards.

Unless we are offering them a package that is worth more overall (easy to achieve add-ons etc.) as that will drive the total price up but won't automatically come out of the headline figure for P&S/accounting purposes and just kicks that down the road a bit.

I doubt it like, but if Lampard really wants him . . ..maybe ?‍♂️

We must value him enough to offer a loan deal with obligation to buy...simply not enough money to buy the players we need.

Reading tuchel's comments today i dont know if he's just trying to push the price up or he rates him.

And Gordon. Both are among our lowest earners believe it or not. So the club will need to look at offering them new deals or cash in. This is why we really need to offload Mina/Gomes or both.
