Yeah as much as it's unlucky, no idea why it was worth playing a player who's come back from an injury, who's had a history of injuries but also currently not full fit/healing from an injury playing against a lower league team.

Couldn’t agree more. No need to bring him on. But the loan was always a huge risk with his injury track record and sadly it’s been proven true.

I'd offer to cancel it this year and renew again in the summer (we are definitely never paying actual money for him).

Then let's get someone in who can make an impact now for the new manager and draw a line under it. If he gets fit again he could replace whichever of Beto or DCL isn't here for next year.
