2024/25 Armando Broja

Look at the first few pages when beto made his debut . Urge caution

….i’m sure I said something along the lines of; ‘ he’s not technically good with his back to goal, he’ll need to be played in behind the back four and his finishing will be erratic.’

I was really impressed with this cameo, though, technically gifted, strong, and terrific link with colleagues. Despite what some say, You really can show signs of quality coming on as sub.

More then you posted though on it ....

Lad's played 5 min against a tired and deflated team and had 2 decent touches and is now "the answer".

He'll be given the Simms treatment soon enough or will reinjure himself.

….i was encouraged by what he did. Only time will tell if ‘he’s the answer’ but after putting up with what we have, it’s understandable that posters like what they saw.

It reminds me when people on here were claiming after 2 games that Ben Godfrey was future England captain material!

I then just checked is current situation - has played 2minutes for Atalanta this season.

Am not saying Borja will flop just the mad hype after 5 touches.

Still think he gets the winner/equaliser on Sunday after coming on as a sub though
And Holgate before him.

Not every signing is going to be the next superstar. That doesn't mean that he couldn't be a very good player for us.
Still at a very good age, has plenty of very worthwhile experience but it is primarily the awful recent injury problems which have allowed us to be able to get him on loan and possibly sign him at an affordable price.

We needed the option of another striker and we are six months away from having to make a decision about signing him. I expect this is the first week we have to cover his salary.

Mate he touched the ball 3 times and has been crocked more often than not. As @blue to the bone said, really.

….don’t disagree, I’m not sure anybody is getting carried away or ignorant of the lad’s injury record. All I’m saying is that you can often see talent in the most fleeting of appearances.

I remember standing on the paddock near the Gwladys St corner flag many years ago when we played Arsenal, I was playing myself at the time, but if our game was postponed I’d dart to Goodison if we were at home. Anyway a young Arsenal player got the ball in a tight space, did a Puskas drag back and created an opening. Never forgotten that moment from a very young Liam Brady.

It often takes one moment to signal a player has quality, it’s something to look for in substitute appearances. I’ve often called it a ‘that’ll do me moment’ on here.

He came on and looked pretty good. I don't really see what the controversy is in saying it. Not seeing many people saying he's going to win the ballon d'or off the back of it, just that he looks like he might be a good option for us to have.
You're not allowed to enjoy footy apparently, nothing wrong with getting excited about him. Nothing wrong with being proved wrong down the line either, none of us are experts in the subject.

It's not like he's a complete unknown either. We know he's big, strong and relatively quick with flashes of skill. He definitely adds something to this side.

We also know he's not scored a lot of goals and has had issues with injuries, so he's very much a wait and see, but just his raw attributes bring something a bit different, so he will be a good option going forward I reckon.

I think that is a very good explanation @Eggs .
You look for the inspiration rather than the perspiration alone.
