Kone was nowhere near as bad as some make out...

I think a lot of people are getting ability mixed up with circumstance. He's not even the worst player currently on our books.

Last season he played a big part in Rom's form. There was 1 stat where Lukaku had only scored 1 goal (not including pens) when Kone wasn't on the pitch, and that was against Liverpool.

A lot of the stigma he had from the moment he was signed was from the fact we signed him from Wigan, even though it was for less money than we sold Anichebe, Jelavic, Naismith, and Oviedo, and less than we spent on Niasse, Bilyaletdinov, and the fee set up for Valencia if we decide to make it permanent.

He also had a potentially career threatening injury less than 4 months into his Everton career and missed over a year because of it (a year in which we did quite well as well as I recall, what if's and all that).

And for what it's worth, all the players loved him as well.

Didn't work out with us, and the signing wasn't a success. But he was wasn't close to ever being our worst player, let alone worst ever.

Kone gets the ball close to the touch line, tries a little shimmy and kicks the ball straight out for a goal kick.
People around me smile at each other, tut, raise their eyebrows, let out little gasps of disbelief, etc., but there's a universal amusement that only Arouna can invoke.
