These are great games for dyche. If we get mullered he'll claim they are title contenders and most of the damage was caused before he got the job. Win or draw and the damage that was caused before he got here wont be mentioned and this result is down to him.
Can i call it now?
15 minutes competitive
Full time Arsenal 5 0 Everton.

Just for once Everton shock me.
Exacto.

@edge this is a possibility more likely a probability. The set piece kings of the PL against each other. Did you see what Monaco did against them at corners? Monaco left 3 players upfield so Arsenal had to leave more players back and it upset Arsenals set piece plans
Craig Burley suggested that tactic on ESPN a week ago as a way of making corners easier to defend, especially for goalies. It would also help to stop corners being such an ugly, crowded spectacle.

If there is one thing I hate about being an Everton fan in particular and our predicament in general it is fixtures like this one.

I have no anticipation or enthusiasm for games like this. None. Just going to make up the numbers and hoping we don't take a real hiding and be humiliated too much.

Our record at these grounds and against clubs like Arsenal is just a disgrace, an embarrassment, shameful, and pathetic, even allowing for where we've been and where we are.

It's gone beyond even statistical probability now and law of averages where you expect, in a blue moon, some freakish set of circumstances combine and we get a win. I don't believe a single member of the coaching or playing staff will go to Arsenal on Saturday and think we can win the game. We get a fair share of heroic draws and that's our lot.

If I had a minute with Dan Friedkin then this is what I'd tell him. This is what he has to understand if we are to ever change.

Spot on, mate.

It is now officially match day and I have zero expectation and even less enthusiasm for this match.

Same with trips to RS, Chelsea, United, City, Spurs and increasingly Villa.

We are now conditioned to being beaten at those grounds and are occasionally both surprised and delighted if we leave with a point.

Although it was Mr. Moshiri whom coined the phrase, the “expected loss” mentality permeated this club for many years before his arrival.

You can't deny it is a great phrase though. Never before has anything about Everton been so true.

Our owner was quick to identity that we're crap and are not deserving of having a chance of taking points against so-called better teams - regardless of their recent history of being awful, such as United.

The real shame is when the phrase is used by fans when we go to teams like Spurs or Newcastle.

Still, if any other club's owner was to use that phrase we'd all be laughing our arses off at their embarrassing defeatest nature.
