Arsenal fan here

I have been very surprised by the defensive side of his game. I always knew he was classy player on the ball and very good passer, but his work rate has been fantastic.

That's very interesting .... "the defensive side of his game" ........ "his work rate is fantastic" .... not bad for a player who spent a good slice of his last 18 months in and out of our side with injuries. Apart from squad rotation I think he's been an ever-present since he joined The Arse.

His defensive side was very underrated.

Not necessarily his tackling, but he won quite a lot of headers for his size and his positional play which often led to interceptions was boss.

With Ossie and Rodders out I am in deep fear of Neville in midfield. I simply don't understand why Moyes would play him but he will, it's like starting with 10 men. Hoping he starts Drenthe and Barkley instead.

I think it will be this:

...........................howard...........................

hibbert.......jags..................distin.........baines

................heitinga...........fellaini..................

coleman.................cahill....................drenthe

............................saha..............................

To be honest 7 or 8 games out of 10 I'd play Barkley over Neville.

But if you can't play Barkley at home to Stoke when 1 down and with 30 minutes left you can't go playing him at The Emirates.

We need Neville for the only 2 things he's good at - being a leader who inspires other players, and kicking [Poor language removed] out of skilled opposition.

I hope it'd be someone else doing it. Heitinga couldn't hurt someone if he joined in an Under 8's game.

I reckon it's nailed on to be Neville. Distin is fit again but he'll put Neville in the centre and keep Heitinga in defence.

Yeah deffo.

I think Distin is boss and Heitinga is poor, but with Distin being out for a while and Arsenal not having any big players than Heitinga usually can't deal with this wouldn't be the end of the world. Plus Heitinga's actually been alright lately.

Pretty much my view on it too mate. He's done nothing wrong, I'm trying to note how he helps with distribution and general possession but we're a bit crap in midfield so it's probably best to have the French turbo charged wardrobe with the bulb head to do his usual ace stuff.

His fault the team isn't doing very well then.

Or at least that's the general view of things, as I see it.

Very good point though, Ch1c0
