As talented as gray is he doesn't play to a set system/approach, he plays to his own game. Which Dyche obviously doesn't buy into..
The lad has got everything you want in a player but his biggest downfall is himself, He wont play a quick simple pass or cross, he doesn't want a simple goal he wants everything to be the hardest and best.
He's the kind of player that if he has 5yrd tap in to an open goal he would rather take it back out just so he can round a few people before shooting.

I'm not slating the lad here, I'd love to see him playing. just painting a picture of why he wouldn't be first choice in a Dyche set-up...
Mr 20 touches....before losing the ball!

IF we dont play Simms up front or Maupay, in whatever role that is that he plays, then we would need a false 9. I think both Gray and McNeil have played there before but either one would be a problem in that they would hardly ever see the ball.. Likely Gray would be the better choice as he occasionally can make something out of nothing. However unless Simms plays we have to stop the tactic of pumping balls into the box or hoofing it upfield from Pickford as thats just throwing possesion away. Any time the ball is out wide the goal shpould be a low trajectory ball into the 6 yard box.

Could we possibly play onana up front and try and hit diagonal balls to him to hold up not sure it would work but maybe worth a go

I think we're at the stage where something as mad as it may seem has to be tried. As what we have to go with is almost certainly going to produce nothing.

A lot of managers won’t do it because the media scrutiny if it doesn’t work will be too much, it was the same when Lampard had to choose Rondon because there was no else.
