This is my second cousin, three times removed - his dad was a scouser; As I've taken up painting and drawing, and am getting to grips with terms like en plein air, scumbling, gesso and other previously unheard of names and terms, I was wondering if anyone else would like to talk about their own adventures in what is a fascinating subject.?

The patience and skill to do this.
This is an example. This is how my self portrait looked after I'd scraped it back so I could see the original outlines (in white gel on the back of my palette). I realized at this point it looked a bit like a watercolour line and wash, but in acrylics. I decided to leave it like this because it was only a first attempt at painting a portrait in acrylic paint and I didn't want to waste any more paint or time on it. It was painted in pop art style but I quite like it like this so now use it as my Instagram profile picture.I've got neither the patience nor the skill. I just ladle on too much and end up having to scrape most of it off again

Thanks for posting that. Not being into comics since The Tiger, and Roy of The Rovers, I had no idea who Moebius was so I Googled him and had a look. Seeing other artists' work is one of the things I like about Instagram. When someone 'likes' something of mine, or starts following me, I always look through their work. I learn a lot - mostly that I have a lot to learnMoebius and Miyazaki
