Art

A painting worth £740,000 has been ruined after a security guard drew two pairs of eyes on the faceless figures on his first day on the job.

The painting by artist Anna Leporskaya, called Three Figures, was on display in an abstract art exhibition at the Yeltsin Center in the city of Yekaterinburg, Russia.

The guard in his 60s was reportedly ‘bored’ and ended up doodling eyes with a ballpoint pen.

Police have launched an investigation into vandalism, which comes with a £395 fine or one year sentence to correctional labour.
Experts are hopefully the piece can be restored to its former glory without any long term damage.
Former glory?

Thanks mate....that one is all acrylic...started with thin washes then built it up to thick impasto........that best way I find to make calligraphic marks on top of acrylick and have it stand our is to use a watercolour round brush like a dip pen into Acrylic Ink.....the ink from Windsor and Newton is good though I prefer the Liquitex stuff if Im doing a lot of work
Whatever you used I like it. You wouldn't believe how much stuff I've bought in my attempts to find what works for me. Watercolour, acrylic, goauche, acrylic goauche, oils, water-soluble oils, pastels, charcoal, Inktense pencils, watercolour pencils, pastel pencils...

In the end I recently decided I'm just too ham-fisted to be trusted with anything other than coloured pencils (two of my best works are such anyway). I'm also too impatient to wait for paint to dry so realise I'll never make a watercolour or Inktense artist.
