Lol, to me it looks like something dreamt up by someone who's on the end of a 3 day cocaine binge.
explains the lack of features on the baby like, belly button, nips.
Painted using gouache I should think. I'm part way through a couple of attempts of portraits of Dame Judi Dench from stills taken from Portrait Artist of the Decade the other week. One I'm doing in regular gouache and the other in acrylic gouache - both in black and white because I'm hopeless at skin tones.
Seems to me it's a reference to homo sapiens being descendants of aliens, apes or a hybrid of both (hence the hair where the alien has none).Art is meant to meant to stir up emotions and inspire!
