Arteta

When Arteta still played for us me and the Mrs did that thing where you offer up a free go on a celebrity. I offered up Mikel who I think is a very handsome man.

My Mrs gave me Fearn Britton in return, so I quickly swapped Arteta for Fellaini as punishment.

Anyway, back on subject he could be gone if they take a beating tonight.

Lets not do a narrow blinkered revisionist hindsight job to prove a point.
All appointments are a bit of a gamble.
iirc at the time Silva was tottering on the edge for weeks, nay months and all that seemed to be keeping him in a job was the lack of proper candidates...Which is why Ferguson got the job when the penny finally dropped for Moshiri, the alternatives were Moyes & Rafael and the rest no where.
So in that context Arteta...even totally unproven, didn't look too bad when compared to Silva, Moyes or Rafael.

Then Moshiri got lucky.
One game at a time.
Not to me, and it wasn't revisionist.

He might be fine tactically, but he doesn't strike me as the sort of character who can rally the troops in a crisis.

Selfishly from our point of view, he should stay there.

Probably only a couple of games now from his position being under genuine threat, if he can't pull a few results out of the bag.

I don't wish him bad at all, but I'm glad how things worked out for us. Arteta would almost certainly be wrong coach, wrong time at Everton.

Ruled out moving to England on numerous occasions. Can't get his head around the language apparently & believes he cant coach without it

20m pounds a year wages too. And Atletico are top of La Liga aren't they?

I mean I always say you can get most people to do most jobs, in most areas of life, it just depends on cash. Do it yourself, think of a job you wouldn't fancy, in a different country, then double your current wage packet, and potentialy triple it, and you are suddenly considering things.

The issue is, with those wages, is anyone going to pay him 40-50m per/a? I certainly don't think Arsenal will. I mean I subscribe to the view we have lots of money in the background, as much as anyone in essence, but I'm not even sure we could commit to that.

Best thing for us to happen today is for an Arteta win. No doubt about it. The longer into the season he can stay at Arsenal, and the further they fall behind- the better. They won't be bottom 6 in May, but it's a case of how much they can claw back.

Also, I'd rather face Arsenal than City in the semi/final if we can get through.

ok then very selective in the OTT pro Arteta fapfest you quoted to make yourself look holier than thou
But my point is still valid, IMO obviously, before Ancelotti became available there weren't many candidates and people might be excused for looking at Arteta a before Moyes or Rafael
Which could excuse the above mentioned fap fest
Before Ancelotti, anybody who wasn't Moyes, Silva or Rafael was in with a chance...including Arteta
And,
Again,
Before Ancelotti, you might not have wanted him (?), but many were entitled to, on first look, full well knowing that all appointments are a gamble, if he hadn't done much, he'd had a good teacher and everybody has to start somewhere...I'd better teary Bill was all in favour...and anyways, at least he hadn't failed...he's not failed yet, struggling, not looking good, but these days time is not on his side

Arteta has well and truly lost his Marbles, all that stat stuff of 25% this and 3% that etc make's him look a right Nutcase, I almost feel like someone typed a script for him to follow as some of the stuff he says is like ive heard it from other bosses over the years lol
Right lads stats say we have a 90% chance of winning this game so take the week off, see you Saturday

The rant about % is madness, sign of a manager trying to deflect away from his team but has no idea how to do it. Needs to watch Mourinho more, he’s the master of it.
Ornstien was on sky on Sunday and said his job is safe and still has the backing. Was only a few months ago they won the fa cup.
He walked in to a club that’s been on the decline for a long time and if it wasn’t for Wenger constantly finishing top 4 they probably of been bottom half much sooner.
They have a rich owner who doesn’t want to spend, they have a player on 350k a week who doesn’t play. This season could be the end of Arsenal as a team fighting near the top. Lose of money from Covid, no European football, an inexperienced manager, an ageing team.
Here hoping anyway

Our fans gave him grief all game.
I was there, and no we didn't

We always treated Arteta with the utmost respect up to that point, and regularly clapped him when he came back to Goodison

We started booing him in that match because he was lying around pretending to be hurt and just generally cheating throughout the course of the game. He instigated all of it

You don't expect former players to do you a favour, but you at least expect them not to cheat against you

He's an arrogant sod who thinks he's better than our club and always did. I'm thrilled he's destroying his legacy at Arsenal, because he's already burned his bridge here a long time ago

I remember us singing his name and giving him a standing ovation on his first game back at Goodison with Arsenal, early 2012 it was, we lost 1-0.
