We'll have see if he gets time to turn it around - and - if he gets that time, he actually can turn it around.
As you say, it all might be...given the dogs state Arsenal seem to be in, too much too soon and while he has all the theory and the tools just not the experience to know yes it needs hitting with a hammer...anybody can do that.
The real trick is knowing where to hit.
This, tho, is on him. He had the hubris and ego to turn down other jobs that would have allowed him to gain that but he thought they were beneath him.

Congrats Mikel, you are where you are.

Martinez taking over at Arsenal would be one of the worst career moves ever made in the history of civilization. He's going to take Belgium to two major tournaments in the next two years in which they'll have among the best squads present. He gets lucky for a two week stretch like he almost did in 2018 and he is an all time great regardless of if he deserves it. Worst case is he does pregame shows for the rest of his life.

Or he can take over Arsenal which needs a minor miracle to happen and watch his career go down in flames. He'd have to be nuts.

I mean....

have you quasi-met Martinez? He said that he didn;t thin goals from a corner/set piece should count as much as one from open play. Arsenal is perfect for him.

He might have an absolutely insane view of how football works but he strikes me someone is aware of how he's perceived and wouldn't risk his reputation in that way.

I wasnt a massive fan when he played for us.

Always felt he was a bit of a weisal sh!thouse.

Very often he sat out big games with little niggles, didnt really do it in big games, and I genuinly believe we over-rated him.

We didn't have many actually good technical footballers in his era, so his type always looked better then they was.
He was a very good footballer. In a good side. Baines pienarr, Saha, yakubu, lescott. Few upgrades and we were potentially a excellent side.
our biggest game of last decade was against florentina. Arteta was exceptional.
we were unlucky not to go through.
Say what you want about his management but he was a good servant during his time here.

Don’t think he be sacked till after Chelsea and even then they might wait, slightly easier run of games for him or a new manager

When you are blacklisting a player who is on 350k a week you know the club is a mess, Ozil could be the biggest blert in the world but I would be sure as hell playing him when the team is struggling to score and I think Arteta has that Martinz arrogance where he knows best because he was Pep's understudy and he'll get them out of this mess with his big football brain and rolling off stats like a christmas carol, No Mikel you're a mess.

Agreed, it's a proper poison chalice that job right now. Loads of fans with high expectations, winning trophies is not enough for them and their squad is awful.

Their best player is getting on in age, their best player on paper is eating 400k a week for doing nothing. They have a couple of promising youngsters but beyond that there really isn't much there right now.

It's a massive rebuilding job.
