Arteta

He was a very good footballer. In a good side. Baines pienarr, Saha, yakubu, lescott. Few upgrades and we were potentially a excellent side.
our biggest game of last decade was against florentina. Arteta was exceptional.
we were unlucky not to go through.
Say what you want about his management but he was a good servant during his time here.

We had loads of big games, cup finals, semi finals, massive derbies, masisve Euro away games against big teams.

Singular. He had a blown knee ligament in May 2009. He wouldn't have been much use.

I think your appraisal is harsh, the Moyes era was one of general not showing up in big games, especially away, 90% of the time.

I think you are right, i'm being a little harsh.

He was a good player without doubt, but not a great player.

He was with us for a reason.

I must admit, I was surprised when Arsenal came in for him. As you say a good player, but not at the level of sone the players they had on their books in the preceding years. Still have pre-injury Arteta back over sone of current crop though.

We'll have see if he gets time to turn it around - and - if he gets that time, he actually can turn it around.
As you say, it all might be...given the dogs state Arsenal seem to be in, too much too soon and while he has all the theory and the tools just not the experience to know yes it needs hitting with a hammer...anybody can do that.
The real trick is knowing where to hit.
Hels not wanted at Arsenal by the players.

I think his choice to bring in ex-Chelsea players with their traditions of revolt has done him no favours.

Management is not all about coaching; it's also about man management, and Arteta shows little signs he's mastered it.

Youre right he didn't kiss the badge but certainly grabbed it and made a point of it.

Like I said, never happened.

But yes he held a badge on his shirt. It’s ok for football fans to scream dogs abuse at players, but this action of holding a badge ? Well it’s an outrage.

Football fans are so precious sometimes it’s embarrassing.

Are people really arsed by this, He's playing for a new club, Do you expect him to be a soulless robot or something.

I think the issue for me, is the absolute snide way he went about his business.

But you're right, he has a right to celebrate, i don't understand the need to grab the badge, just like I didn't appreciate the need to go down and start cheating and using snide tactics against us. I don't ask for a lot, but just a little bit of respect, as we helped keep his career going.

As a manager, he just comes across as totally arrogant, i posted a couple of pages back about that, and I think you have to earn the right to be arrogant as a manager.

But everyones opinion is different, for me, done nothing to make me wish him well for the future based on his actions and comments in the last 8 years or so.

Arse is in bad form, but on top of that you can tell the players have no faith or fight in them. This has to be the responsibility of Arteta. And it seems he's lost them. It's like watching the final days of Koeman with us--you go down a goal and the whole team collapses into dispirit.

People also forget that when your side isn't particularly deep how much an ace striker covers up a ton of wounds/weaknesses. Our defensive record wasn't all that great before the injuries, and our goalkeeper is Mr. McFlappy but DCL more often than not cancels out the derpiness. Where is LC w/o Vardy? Aubameyang, for whatever reason, turning into jelavic 2.0 has decimiated the club.
