I didn't want us to sign him but as average as he has been I do think that we would be neck deep in it without him. If the rest of the defence and goalie were just average we might have a few more points.

Jagielka has lost it and you can see the desperation in his play - he know what he wants to do but can't do it anymore. FM is a liability and Pennington is not good enough. Holgate is a prospect but not as a wingback.

Big job this summer. We need 2 centre-backs, full backs and a goalie (in other words an entire defence). We will not progress unless we sort out the defence. As poor as we were yesterday the RS were clinical. We had enough chances strangely to put pressure on them.

Serious question mate, can you think of one game he's had where he has been better than decent, i mean a real exceptional game that makes you think yeah got a good one here.

For the life of me i can't

Will this guy prove to be a poorer purchase than Niasse?

We stand a good chance of getting close to our money back on him and he has scored some key goals for Hull, none more enjoyable than the one v the RS.

Williams scored v Arsenal and was steady earlier in the season. Recently he has fell off a cliff with some terrible performances.

Even at his best he is no where near the quality of the likes of Lescott, Jagielka or even Yobo when they where showing what a proper mobile defender can do.

We are likely to see him replaced this summer with 0 chance of getting a return on a 12m outlay.

The problem you have here is if Koeman sells him in the summer it will make Koeman look like he's made a mistake in signing him and he won't want that

Also we will never recoup what we paid for him

For a player of his experience the third goal is indefensible.

He's been like a rabbit in the headlights since he's been here, just not suited to the step-up we gave him. Was obvious from the first game for me.

Decent player for Swansea, simply not good enough for us. Very slow, not good enough in the air and positioning is very suspect at times. A stopgap defender to fill the gap when Stones left but not been up to the job unfortunately.

For one, it was Williams and Jagielka who were at fault. Both of them.

Robles didn't exactly cover himself in glory either.

Two, no he hasn't at all. He's easily been our best out-and-out defender. He's part of the fifth strongest defence in the league ffs. A defence that was one of the weakest last year.

We've gone from one of the worst defences in the league to one of the best.

I reckon that might have something to do with the one new defender we brought in...

Look, he's not a world-class player. Everybody knows that.

But, when the system has fit he's been superb.

What he needs is a player with pace next to him who can do the job of bringing the ball out from the back.

We still need two new CBs in the summer, but the stick Williams is getting is ridiculous.

We didn't make a mistake in signing him though

None of that is true mate

For one I'm talking about Williams, other peoples mistakes had zero impact on him in that instance.

As for your other point its a game of opinions. Mine is he's a very average stopper and that's it. It's reflected in his career, there's a reason he was at Swansea and never made the jump. Not good enough and we should be aiming much higher.
