Ashley Williams

He will improve our back 4, and I dont see how people can be against this signing. In my opinion we will sign another top class centre half once Stones is sold, Williams wont be his replacement.

If Stones goes i think we need two CBs, Williams and another because i know i'm in the minority here but i think Jags is definitely on the slippery slope.

I have always though Ashley Williams is ok, but is he really going to improve the back four, not so sure !!!!
I'd say so yes. Obviously he's not going to bring spectacular ball play, flamboyant skills or youthful charisma like Stones may offer.

However, I think he'd bring experience, resilience and importantly stability and some game-management. He's also pretty darn good in the air.

Therefore while it may not be a long-term option, I'm confident that it will bring some stability at the back and shore up what was a poor defence.

How many years have we watched this man bail out Swansea's back line again? And again? And again?

In performance and character on the pitch, he brings something we don't currently have. You can define this as you will.

Lesson: Transfer threads are the devil's work.

Hold the scarf up for the cameras, Ashley.

Yep, once the season beds down I can see Williams and Jags contesting one CB slot.

Genuinely think he would. I recall last season being on the edge of my seat in trepidation anytime the ball came anywhere near our area.
Williams lends a defensive calm...and Everton needs that as a building block after the undermining of Martinez and his amateur team.
(cliche alert): Rome wasn't built in a day... and neither will Everton be rebuilt immediately.

I reckon Williams would be a very sound foundation to our rebuilding. Having said that, I haven't the foggiest as to whether any of this purported transfer news has any substance...

It's goin to be a period of change and a bit of instability. It is so important to have a solid experienced defense during this. Williams will add leadership to this. Jags is spending more and more time with the physio. Mori had a very good first season but can make a mistake and should improve with another season. When stones goes we probably will try to bring in amother cb as well

He will improve our defence defensively no doubt with his experience and defensive qualities. He is a better defender than Stones but that is all he can do whereas stones is a more all round player whose will only get better at defending with time and experience. A good move IMO seeing as Stones doesn't want to be here.
