2024/25 Ashley Young

Thought he was quite lucky not to have given a penalty away in normal time last night as well, looked another rash tackle on the winger in the box, I was amazed the ref and Lino didn’t give it.

The lad may have overan the ball slightly but young fouled him imo.

It was 100% a stonewall pen. I couldn't believe Southampton didn't boot off about it and accepted the corner. Young absolutely crapped himself and instantly started waving his hands saying he got the ball and then sheepishly stopped when he realised a pen hadn't been given.

Same, I thought the saints lads must have missed it because they just didn’t seem to react. Young couldn’t believe his luck.

Everything about Young is screaming the mind is willing but the body is finished.

I can't work out what prompted Young to sign another contract. He is a very wealthy man who has had a glittering career, but, he is tarnishing the memory of that career by continuing to play. His legs have gone, he must be just as aware of that as we are. It's a shame, but, the way things are going, people will remember Ashley Young as the walking yellow card and laughing stock, that played for Everton for two terrible seasons. Similar could be said for Coleman, although he is still able to pull a performance out once in a while.

I think your comment is equally applicable to both players.

Both have been very good now neither are capable of playing at this level.

All on the manager and this will continue unless or until they get a Gary Neville type level of insight

It was put in front of him, who doesn't sign a multi-million pound contract when it's put on a plate?

I half wonder if his old mate Dyche put him on last night with the brief of “Don’t let us get through here, I can’t be bothered with it”.

Loyal foot soldier then does his best to give away a penalty but then manages to accomplish the mission anyway with a pathetic spot kick of his own.

With a pathetic spot kick of his own.

He smashed it down the middle, there'll be a stat out there for how often a keeper dives left or right but I'm not of the "heatmap producing, don't go the game coz it's more fun to bicker on the Internet" generation so I can't provide it. His pen was miles better than Onanas.
