Atheists

Should atheists be allowed to celebrate today?

As an atheist I dont celebrate christmas, just like I dont believe in ghosts or an afterlife. We did presents on the solstice (Dec 21) and we send 'holiday' cards to friends and family. As we are largely non-drinkers too, today is just a day when everything is shut - pain in the arse. Good opportunity for us all to sit around in our jammies, play board games and over-eat. Just waiting for Everton to ruin the time off work really...

I work in Manchester City centre and there’s a lot of people in my office who practice Islam. Some of the people on my team weren’t happy they booked Christmas off and didn’t get the holidays they’d requested. “They aren’t even Christians, they don’t celebrate it” “oh yer, when was the last time you went to mass on Christmas Day?” Pipe down ye blerts it’s a national holiday, you don’t have to prove your faith at the door to get into the party

Christmas was usurped from the atheists celebrating the solstice as being the beginning of the end of the worst of winter. So atheists were around celebrating this time if year long before massed emotional social control .... sorry .... religion came along.

You’re doing it just perfect there in my book.

As atheists we love Christmas. Always have a blowout Xmas eve party with friends and (some family), time off from work, presents for everyone, good tidings and cheer, etc

Love it
