Atheists

Should atheists be allowed to celebrate today?

Every year Christmas makes me think of the phrase - Christianity is the story of a lie about an affair that got seriously out of control

As an atheist I dont celebrate christmas, just like I dont believe in ghosts or an afterlife. We did presents on the solstice (Dec 21) and we send 'holiday' cards to friends and family. As we are largely non-drinkers too, today is just a day when everything is shut - pain in the arse. Good opportunity for us all to sit around in our jammies, play board games and over-eat. Just waiting for Everton to ruin the time off work really...
Are you a pagan? Or just anti Christmas

I know a family of Jehovah's, they go somewhere nice and sunny for a week at chrimmo while we shiver in this country ,spending money on stuff that nobody needs. I envy them.

Atheists can defo celebrate Xmas, Easter, whatever ya like.

I used to work in Leeds with a load of contractors over from Mumbai, and they would encourage all to celebrate Diwali. They’d all come in to work in traditional Indian dress for a week, and every day bring in loads of home made curries, and traditional sweet treats, and invite everyone to come and join in their celebrations, and scoff their lovingly prepared scran.

That’s the type of inclusive community these things should be about, and @chicoazul ’s efforts to drive religious and sectarian hate won’t work on me. ;)
