Is it being nice to assume you are the same religion as them just because you look like them? OR is it racial profiling or evangelism if they are not sure. Why do they feel the need to say anything?

Personally I try not to assume people’s race, gender , favourite colour or anything really, I just try to be a nice, polite human being

I am atheist, but since we have a 6yr old I definitely celebrate Christmas in terms of Santa. And yes, I say "Merry Christmas" to folks and also hear it back...NEA.

In a world where those who claim genuine knowledge of His existence go round Cheshire Oaks on the Sabbath day I figure it's best to wait until God himself speaks directly unto me.

There's nothing in the 10 commandments that say you must have genuine heartfelt belief in the existence of God. Just don't take any other's before Him, lay off the killing, adultery, coveting and robbing, make nice with the neighbours and your parents and remember that graven images are absolutely off the table.
