Atmosphere around the Club

I have mentioned it in a few posts so thought I would gauge what people thought.

There's a strange atmosphere looming over Goodison Park at the moment. At the end of Martinez's reign dark clouds were removed, youth got its chance and two Everton men through and through took over for one game.

We brought in Koeman and were told we were able to compete with the big boys....

That didn't last long did it? We sold Stones and spent that money on proven Premier League players... meh summer in my eyes.

Since then I personally feel there's been a strange atmosphere around, many blues like myself are worried we have been conned again (we have reason to believe this) and now we have our manager belittling our PROUD & HISTORIC club.

Does anyone else think there's something not quite right at Goodison?

Compare this to Martinez first season (ignore the rest for a moment) we played attractive football and the atmosphere around the club was the best I've known it.

Totally agree.

It just feels like the same old and we're never going to get off this roundabout.

Our own manager is basically saying we don't deserve to have the best players at this club. Well then, what are we all bothering for then?

Personally I want to see Koeman make an apology to the fans.

Really had hope that things would be different under him, but he has undermined us in the same way Moyes, Neville, etc have in the past and I am sick of it.

It's optimism with a healthy mix of reality. And the reality hurts - we are a mid to bottom half club. We have a manager who tells the truth even if it hurts. Yes that's difficult to accept under any circumstances.

It will take time yes but you can already see some improvements -Barkley and mirallis actually running for example. And a better defence baring the Chelsea game where we collapsed.

Bold bit is exactly the problem with his comments, and yes he should apologise.

He obviously won't.

My opinion of him has plummeted as a result of this I'm afraid.

I agree we've had a bit of anti climax after what some of us thiought may have been a high spending summer, but with Koeman also, I'm not entirely sure he was what we expected when we had an impression that we we're getting a high profile guy, which of course is open to debate, but again there's a slight anit climax feeling anbout his appointment, to me at least

But the thing for me is, we've been stagnant a bit too long, not just with Martinjez but under Moyes and smith too, we haven't really had anything to shout about, so it was obviously going to take a lot of hard work and wouldn't just be trunaround overnight.

I'm willing to be patient and see what happens in this season, but I have to say, koeman's recent comments haven't helped

Thanks Ted

I think the Lukaku statement by Koeman is rather clever.

We all know that Lukaku will go eventually.

So Koeman states as much.

What I read into his statement was: (to Lukaku, indirectly) You can go on to higher things. But to do so, you've got to deliver consistently here, otherwise the big boys will not come in for you, and you'll be stuck here.

Exactly the 'gee-up' he needs to be on top of his game consistently, and not drop down into idleness on the pitch again.

I hope I'm right, and we see Lukaku pulling his guts out every game to lift the club.

I think Koeman is a clever Manager - he appears to have already turned Ross's attitude and performance around.

The thing is, if we were a Southampton and the like I could understand.

Despite decades of underinvestment, only Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal have more league titles than us.

We pull in crowds of 39,000+ every week in a stadium with thousands of obstructive views.

He has belittled our club and he has only been here two minutes.

As far as I'm concerned now, he has to win my support for him back.
