and from what ive seen of him, he isnt as good as wanyama.

why has he been playing in Russia too?? these types of players rarely come to the premier league from Russia and succeed.

im all for improving our team, but i do not want to over pay for mediocre players. our board has mentioned something about 'statements of intent' well i dont believe witsel fits this at all.

You make very valid points, but tbf he did go to zenit when they were show oh really ambition spending big on Danny and hulk etc. They just failed to really make it, not sure why he hasn't moved on sooner like. I'm still unsure on him, never watched him close enough in the limited games I've seen, but that's always been for Belgium, totally different kettle of fish to league football.

Just see how it materialises I suppose, there's no doubt he has a presence about him though!

Cant judge him on Belgium because i think they are rubbish, yes they have some top individual players but as an actual playing side not up to much IMO so until we see him in a side he playing in week in week out

i'd like to think a player valued at around £30 million would shine out, just a tad against the likes of wales.

we should be judging these players more by watching them in internationals. you can see what they are like up against someone else who is an international themselves.

he hasnt shown us anything in these euro's.

I think 30 million is a little bit much, but I think he will be a good pairing with Barry/Besic...it's not a done deal yet but I'm hoping it is soon with Belgium out of the Euros

Yeah I no what you mean, just hope we dont rush into things, its very in the window, best not to rush into anything but on the other hand I dont want us to do like we have dine in the past and wait for th season to start and get panic buys in the last days of the window.

i am completely basing my opinion on the wanyama deal just done. he was 11 mill. he's younger and premier proven.

Zenit did not need to sell, they said they'd rather let him go for free than take something like 100 million. Apparently some new rule has changed this stance - that's why they've sold Hulk and now selling Witsel.

Russian clubs are notoriously hard to deal with, the majority of them don't need the money. I don't think it'll be 30 either, 20ish with escalators i.e appearances, goals and wins bonuses that make it 30

He's a quality player. Wanyama isn't anything special, look at what people have been saying for months - very good against top teams and a passenger against everyone else.
