I don't want us spending a package of £50m on a player who would rather be somewhere else....it,s bad business and bad for the manager, players and fans.

then we won't buy anyone besides for players who a move to us is gonna be the biggest move of there career then mate, or boyhood blues like Walters, Barton etc

Think Suarez wanted to sign with all his heart for the rs, or Payet always wanted to play for West Ham

Weird train of thought this. Not everyone views Everton like we do, how hard is that to comprehend?

For nearly every one of them it's just a job, Real Madrid came in with a 90m offer and 300k per week for Ross then he'd be off, even Mr Liverpool himself Gerrard was off to Chelsea before the bullets arrived in the post

Rubbish...plenty of players out there who want the wedge and want to pull on the the blue jersey.

This one has his heart set elsewhere.

Like Arteta mate?
or Stones?
or Lukaku?

best player i have ever seen play for us (including watching the 80's team) was Kanchelskis, and no chance on earth he signed for us for the honour of pulling on the blue jersey

How many of the players who wanted to pull on the blue jersey decided to not be bothered for that jersey around the Arsenal game onwards last season btw?

But by all means mate, try list a few players who are good ones of the level of Witsel who want to pull on the blue jersey for us in preference to others?

No player from abroad comes to Everton because they love us. Same goes for nearly every club in the Premier League.

They come for money first and foremost.

Couldn't give a flying fk if they're only playing for the money, it's football these days. As long as they earn their money and perform I couldn't care less
This, obviously you will always get a Winston Bogarde who just wants the money for doing nothing but as long as they put in the effort and perform on the pitch I don't care what money they are on. That is for the men in control of the club to worry about and if we weren't going to pay them the money somebody else will.

Gary linker of the top but this deal with witsel has been dragged out because the player PREFERANCE is to play in Italy.

If we get him fine but if it leads to trouble in the dressing room or mute performances then it will have been seen as a major error on our part.

Just because you can buy better things in the shop doesn't mean you should.

It's dragged out because he's been playing in the euros and zenit and his agent are known to be difficult to deal with

This.

Btw it annoys me no end when the club ask a new signing, "what does it mean to sign for Everton"? during the first interview, as if it were their life ambition!

There is a tiny, tiny percentage of pro-footballers who had Everton as their boyhood club FFS.

They come for the money.

They stay for the club.

....where the money on offer is much the same from a number of clubs I think the ambition and future vision is an important ingredient. The fact that EFC has a new owner and high-profile coach has to be an attractive proposition if the player has a number of options.

Players mention CL and European football but for the likes of Leicester that might only be a few games this season. The vision and strategy to make it a regular occurrence is important. Cash is important but there are other factors.

No offense mate, but what the heck is that supposed to mean?

Just because we could have Koeman, doesn't mean we should have replaced Martinez with him? Just because we could have Witsel, doesn't mean we should replace Gibson with him? Just because we can be better, doesn't mean we should be better? I fail to see the point. Do you want us to be bad? Random "smart" quote just put in there to make it sound better imo.

Oh come on mate, your choosing a player from 31 years ago who wanted to really join us, whilst at the time we happened to be the reigning champions, had just won the CWC and was regarded my mainy to be the best team in Europe and on top had wealth comparible to any team around and even then he buggered off after one season when barca (who in no way shape or form was the juggernaut that every boy dreams apparently of playing for they are these days) came calling.

meanwhilst the relaity is we haven't won a thing in 21 years, we havent had a title challenge in 29 years and have had two consecutive bottom half finishes on the bounce, Lineker was around now he wouldn't even contemplate going to us unless we offered him an astronomical wage and even then we would be far from a club he wanted to play for.

Much as we would all love a team full of top class players who joined us because of the pride in wearing the jersey your living in dreamland if you think it was ever about that save for a very small minority of players
