Transfer Rumour Axel Witsel

If he won't give us an answer by the end of this week I'd f him off and move on. Do we think it's Witsel or carvalho, or he wants both? We have a plethora of centre Mids, admittedly of varying experience and ability.

Still think we have a deal but this forum just sucked the joy out of him signing because he didn't sign straight after the Euros and we allowed him to have a holiday.

You have all be clickbaited into thinking he is not signing by www.transfereuropaballitkbible.co.ck - that's why it's called rumours!

If a proven source on the forum in @The Esk vouches for this then why would you jump down his throat and give him all sorts of plop.

For Shame!

Kristof Terreur has tweeted again this morning confirming that we did speak with both Zenit and Witsel's father (because those crazy Belgium's love to get their old fella's involved).
apologies i can't post a pic of his tweet but he was responding to a question about our interest and he says "he'll probably be linked to another team next week. #EFC talked to his dad & Zenit. Unclear what happened next"
Kristof appears very reliable when it comes to Belgium players and would certainly say if the deal was dead. Equally i imagine he'd say if it was as close as we thought a week ago.

Shock horror as he keeps his options open we'd all do the same but let's bin him because he didn't sign when Robson Kanu's shot hit the back of the net.

Real life.

I just hope we left the offer on the table, let him go fish around for better if he wants, in the meantime we try to get some other deals over the line

Makes me laugh this

The level of fume and "don't want him now as he's taken too long" comments are unbelievable

This is probably the lad's last big career move. He's arguably made a mistake with his last one as far as moving to a lesser league is concerned, even if he has earned well out of it.

He wants to get the best deal he possibly can and ideally play for the best team he can.

And people are fuming because a lad with this mindset hasn't made his mind up immediately to sign for us?

Absolutely I'm sure us sniffing around Carvalho too as I'm not sure we'd want both.

They're totally, totally different players though. Carvalho will sit in front of the back four, not often making much effort to get forward - a bit like Barry.

Witsel is far more box-to-box.

One shouldn't preclude the other IMO

Different type of player really, Carvalho (from my last few days speed brushing up on him) is a out and out defensive mid - who really acts like a deep playmaker, Witsel is 100% better box to box and recyling the ball to the more attacking players

From the 'more credible' linked players, i'd say that we had both positions marked down to try bring people in for them, Witsel or Strootman, Carvalho or Scheniderlein for example would be maybe a better look at more comparable players.

Pretty sure we will bring in 2 good quality and different types of centre mid this summer, exactly who it will end up being is guesswork atm though

Of maybe more concern for me right now, is that we have only been linked with Koulibaly so far at cb, if stones is going, really hope we have a very good back up option to him as have to think Chelsea will get him almost certainly ahead of us

Think we area fter two mate, since early on theres been two completelty different type of centre mid being linked with us, a holding one and a box to box one. Barry's on his last season or two at best, McCarthy may be out the door if Stoke really want him, so we have the room to bring two in and the need really
