Why, we'll get both
Buy everybody I say.

Just think £60m on a couple of defensive midfielders seems a lot when we've got other weaker areas to improve. We can't be that rich. Surely?!
Really though?! Moshiri is wealthy but he's far from one of the wealthiest owners in the league. We are.

I suppose we'll have to see what happens. And what does that matter? We are about to sell Stones for 50m+, the SKY tv deal is through the roof, every team in the league will spend an obscene amount of money.

Which means the market is just as competitive for us, and we're competing with everyone else in the league for signings. We're not special either.
In relative terms it is much easier for us to spend big than it is for the established elite. That doesn't mean we can compete for Pogba but it does mean we can increas our spending at a faster rate than our competitors, particularly if we off load Stones for a huge profit relative to our previous budgets.
If Witzel's playing the mercenary, he may not be our best bet.
I agree on this, he's clearly wanted by Koeman but if he's not committed then he shouldn't come.
We've offered more to Zenit and more to him than any others, it's now his choice.

This may be as cliched as it gets, but I don't want us to be a rich mercenary filled club, I want people who play for the jersey and love turning up to Goodison. We've had so many of those types of players in the recent past, Baines, Cahil etc etc, I think it's important to keep those values as well, as impossible as it may seem.
