Transfer Rumour Axel Witsel

Think you've nailed it here Lou.

In fairness on the flip side a player like Barry there is really very little need for RK to have a look at, per-say.

e.g. he knows his qualities already and probably knows he can still play an important role, so why waste his legs early in pre-season - get him involved at the later stage with three games (1 in Germany, minutes v Utd and Espanyol), to ramp up his match fitness ahead of the new season.

That's not to say we may not see him be moved on if a decent offer came in, but I'd still rather have Barry playing for us than Gibson, for example...

Napoli have sold Higuin to Juventus. Surely this is the end of the Witsel saga? They'll have dosh enough to get him now.
Napoli will probably not value him at the price we are prepared to bid, and Zenit will want as much as they can get, last year of his contract he'd be got for around 20/22m normally, we are having to put high bids in to get the project going, we have no European football, it's exactly what City did when they got flush with cash.

Yes but City had an unlimited pot of gold where we absolutely do not, not even close.

Zenit and Witsel both have history as being very hard to deal with.

I'm hoping our current Russian connection and alleged future Russian connections, along with the Gazprom link, could be playing a big part in helping us do this deal with Zenit. Particularly with the rumours that they won't talk to anyone else.

I'd say the reported £28million (or is it EUROS?) big ones will have helped as well mind...

That is the problem there mate with barry.

Why waste his legs? the fact that would be even an issue tells you we need to replace him. I didn't want us to sign him and i stand by that considering his age even if he has been decent for us. But when you think a player needs his legs saving in pre season then you need to get rid and replace him with a player who doesn't need that.

Especially in such an important role in the team.

Reply makes complete sense.

The same logic applies to Jagielka and quite frankly Lukaku mate

Why wouldn't they talk to anyone else? Don't get that.

you mean the younger jags or the 23 year old striker?

that makes no sense?

Jagielka is just over a year younger so not a big difference mate?

My point with Lukaku is that even at 23 he needs his legs resting - which goes to show how professional Barry is.
