Now that the Juve interest is dead, why are we not putting some kind of pressure on him to commit? This lad isn't bigger than Everton Football Club.

Juve's interest is not as strong as the Italian media reported. Much of the interest was created by his Italian intermediary, Marseglia. There's not been a formal bid by Juve, and the quote offers never got higher than €22 million as against our €30 million offer accepted by Zenit.

From what I read they are close to Blaise Matuide from PSG

That's going to cost them 30mil+ euros according to reports, that suggest they don't rate Witsel that highly as they appear unwilling to meet the fee we agreed with Zenit.

That's my interpretation but I could be wrong

I think this has been one of the problems, if we'd have got one of the 'names' in early on, it probably would have made it easier for the rest to fall into place.

And the DoF appointment being later than planned to some extent.

I take your point but surely the sale of Pogba is a game-changer with regards to Juve bidding for Witsel - they will have loads of spare cash to match our offer?

Time will tell, I guess, but if this plays out the way I fear, I don't think I will be the only one fuming!
