If it was bad he'd have been told to rest it for at least the first few days surely... wouldn't imagine he'd be up and about trotting round town.

did he have a massive boot on his foot ?

@Missefc: @KBURKE1878 no plaster & got up for a photo ....
@Missefc: @blue_nose_amy no crutches, got up ok for photo....wouldn't say how long out for though xxx

At least no crutches is a bit more positive than it was initially sounding.

Jayne Leonard deserves an OBE!

You guys/girls need to remember.

If the scans are coming back that there's an issue with the ankle after his initial surgery.

This DOES NOT rule out he might need surgery shortly.

They could be seeing how it reacts.

People need to mentally prepare themselves that if he's out. He's out.

We carry on regardless with Oviedo and Galloway.

Its a team sport.

btw lads Garbutt can't be recalled as he's on a season long loan ... imagine the fume if Chelsea had recalled Lukaku in 13/14 haha

Leighton Baines has picked up an ankle injury in training and will miss today's game against Watford.

The knock is to the ankle Baines had surgery on in May, a procedure that forced him to miss the final two games of last season.

Martinez said: "With Leighton, it was a very, very unfortunate block in training, where the ball hit his ankle that he had a little bit of trouble with in the later stages of last season.

"It's really sad and disappointing because Leighton came back probably stronger than ever and this pre-season he showed fantastic signs. So, to lose him in the week that you're preparing to start the season is very disappointing.

"We're just hoping we can get him back quicker than we fear because the injury looks very similar to what he had before."
