Banning BitChute?

BitChute is a video hosting site for all the dregs of the internet that get banned off mainstream platforms like YouTube for being far-right, conspiracy pushing, or plain hate-filled. Fake stuff about the pandemic, vaccines, all that crap.

A certain user (now banned?) of this forum had been posting a lot of videos from BitChute on here and it was embedded as if it was 'normal' videos from a more respected site. I think its potentially dangerous content. Could it be banned?

I think banning videos with offtopic or violent content (etc.) is one thing, but banning videos just because they happen to be hosted from a particular website is a very grim and depressing road to be heading down.

There is a line though - I mean, we've censored (url auto changes to remove it] a handful of clickbait crap to discourage sharing their spam/rewarding their content with clicks.

The only time BitChute has been posted here is misinformation (some dangerous about vaccines) by posters who have ended up banned. Between the dangerous lies and the far-right stuff the site is known for, imo its far worse than a clickbait site.

Anyway - I've already answered. We'll play the ball and not the man - if people share inappropriate content on here, we'll action. Sometimes it's useful to help inform us.

If we find BitChute employees registering to share links, or members sharing tons of BitChute posts per day as we did with the example I gave - we'll change approach.

Its not an opinion, it really is potentially dangerous stuff that rightly got the poster banned. All I wanted to suggest was cutting the crap off at the source so people don't get duped as the videos aren't immediately apparent where they are from.

I’ve got faith in the users to tell someone if they’re doing something tittish

meanwhile I think this super league debacle carries a lesson in letting established platforms run away with a monopoly on content

basically leave it as is and anyone crossing the line will get told perfectly well with the structure we have here

The main thing I’d worry about WRT this forum is YouTube is trigger happy with DMCAs and often slow to restore videos that shouldn’t have been pulled
Best to have as many platforms open for sharing highlights etc
