Guess he preferred his years of warming the bench because he’s going to struggle to get into Villa’s midfield. Strange one.
They’re more than welcome to him.

Makes sense for him. Already played there so familiar & also gets Champions League footy next season. Good business from Villa.
Couldn't recall one of the stinging comments Conte made about him. Just looked it up.
Can't see how this is strange at all, been playing well all season Villa in the champions league will need a bigger squad, he is on a free and Villa won't be hit with FFP, it's win win for them.
Just wish Everton had something about them with our ambition, rather than signing Ashley Young on a 12 months deal, while spurs release Sessingon LB on a free
No.
Aside from the history, he's the wrong age profile and lacks athleticism.
And then there's the history. He absolutely screwed the club and therefore the match day crowd at Goodison would (rightly) absolutely hound him. A toxic scenario we would be wise to avoid.
I made a thread last year asking if you would have him back, what’s your opinion now?
He’s had a great season at Luton, would walk into our team in my opinion. I also want James back so maybe I’m just bored of no skill in the team.
Utftt
He's available on a free so he's in our price range. Contributes more than Onana, I'd take him if his wages are Luton level.
All four clubs go straight into the group stage. Has been the case for years. They’ve got to get through the two qualifying games first.

He’s clearly talented and he is a blue. Would he walk into the team? Probably yes. Would he thrive under Dyche? Probably yes.
As I mentioned to @davek in the other thread, does he have a rep as a walloper? Yes.
If Dyche could sort him out and he’d be quality then yeah, I’m just a bit reticent due to his previous behaviour but then I was prepared to welcome Rooney back. On the other hand Rooney had considerably more talent to justify that but then I don’t think we’re in much of a position to choose at the moment what with finances etc.
Massive fence-sitting effort from me essentially.

Makes a lot more sense as a luxury attacking player for Emery than an every week player for a struggling/midtable club. He should jump on that deal.Suppose they need numbers for Champions League
