Barrett-Baxendale: Champions League isn't a dream. I'm planning for it

A sign of strength in a manager is the ability to delegate functions to those best suited and then to " Lead the Team".

The higher one rises in management the more important this becomes.

The worst kind of manager is one who sits on the shoulders of those who ate in charge of particular sections of work.

Open door policy, regular team and individual meetings are the way to manage efficiently. If one has proper senior management skills one will know from day to day how things are going without constantly looking over the shoulder of members of one's team.

This lady strikes me as displaying the qualities of top level management.

I totally agree mate and for what it is worth I believe she has shown those qualities. However this is the honeymoon period and you don't know how good a person is until there is a crisis to deal with. Maybe she will be so good we don't ever go through one but only time will tell. With this new structure I would like see the commercial side grow and the stadium development pick up pace. It is these things we can directly compare her to her predecessor and actually judge how great she is.

But Dave they are in a 1 team league, getting in the CL is their main target every year, something they failed to do this year.
Well they made it on a good few occasions in the recent past with him at the helm.

But you're happy with a charity worker being the cat's paw of our clueless Iranian.

Im not that bothered, the CEO role isnt that important in our current set up.

She turned EITC into the envy of the football world, so she cant be as bad as your making out.

And that cluless Iranian is a self made Billionaire, so I suspect you might possibly have gone full Davek, never go full Davek.

My 34 years of experience in a number of very large organisations has taught me that the role of a CEO or equivalent is hugely important in terms of motivating everyone from the most junior to the second rank and making everyone understand their mportance in achieving the Strategic Goals of the organisation.

When one sees poor performance, inefficiency and lack of morale/motivation one looks to the management for the cause.

By contrast, when everyone understands how their job supports and furthers the strategic goals and when they feel valued, that is when one sees an efficient and successful organisation.

I have been fortunate to report to some excellent managers including those who are now at the very top.

One in particular taught me so much and it is about leading the team of managers which means letting them have sufficient freedom to be expansive in thinking while ensuring that the strategic goals are acieved.

It is also about encouraging risk takers to suggest actions that may be outside the box - however not to make risky decisions without clearance.

I hope that my direct report managers regard me as being reasonably efficient in giving them space while always being open to giving clear direction and advice as required.

This lady certainly is setting out a clear strategic direction that everyone in the Club can understand and can buy into.

You really are going beyond what is reasonable now la.
This point is beyond puerile.
I value everyone's views, but this is frankly ridiculous.
