Sincere condolences for a truly horrible thing to happen.

I'm also a big believer in karma - so i really hope the [Poor language removed] scumbags who did this get what they deserve.

This may not be the time, but how did you come to have a barn owl as a pet?

Pretty unusual and from some very limited experience through falconry days, I am led to believe that owls in general aren't easy to train as they are so good at what they do (hunting silently) that in the wild they don't really need to 'problem solve' so don't learn new things easily.

Like I said, probably a difficult time so I completely understand if you don't want to discuss this right now.

@marnie

The Hawk and Owl Trust may be a good starting point when you're ready to look for another Barn Owl.

Amongst many other things they care for and rehabilitate orphaned Owls.

I'm not sure if they'd let you have one for it to go into captivity, but they could deffo put you in touch with a reputable and licensed breeder.

These are fantastic gestures by everyone on here, but can I suggest that if folk want to contribute, then can I suggest that @marnie perhaps has the last word on if he is happy, the wrong word I know, for folk to do so, and if so, where any money donated is forwarded to.

This, and for people to understand that he might want a little time before he makes that decision
