Basketballs lack of popularity in the UK relative to the rest of Europe

Tried to get into watching basketball, but just couldn’t hack it. Some skillfull and athletic stuff to see, but the back and forth of consecutive baskets scored at each end, again and again and again, is dreadfully repetitive.

Seems like a sport that is [Poor language removed] by its rules, and unfucking it isn't really possible without throwing it all out and starting again. Rugby union is another example of this, probably many others.
With basketball there's this silly time dilation where the last 5 minutes are massively more important than the preceding 43 and it just stutters to a stop with foul / timeout / foul. Just sucks any urgency out of the game when it's so easy to score.

Love Basketball … played a fair bit in local leagues when I was younger and fitter… not a game for fat sloths with no energy.

You have to look at a few things here. I am speaking from what I see here in Greece. All the Basketball teams go hand in hand with the football clubs.... This doesn't happen in the UK. There is very little green space (if any) in local schools for playing fields. What they have is an area in a school playground to put up a Basketball court for the exercise purposes of the children. Hey Presto...........
