From what I've seen, the only production from Spurs is with pace on the wing. They'll fly the ball up the side and send a cross in the general direction of Peter Crouch, who heads it somewhere, and Van der Vaart is usually there to pick up the trash. Not sure if he's making the right signing with Davey Becks.
