Beer, revisited

There were a few pongy beers that were very good.

Draught Bass was one that immediately springs to mind too.

Ruddles County being another. ( dreadful stuff since Greene King got hold of it )

Now there was a decent pint, County, but I can’t ever remember it having a bad smell.... mind you it’s been twenty odd years I suppose....

I brew my own, to my own taste and the most expensive is 50p a pint! It's proper, live bottled conditioned ale, none of that lifeless pasteurised stuff.

Plus there's never a queue at the bar AND the chancellor gets none of my hard earned to fling towards their mates' businesses.

And you get to cop off with the barmaid......

Made a few over the years myself, best being a 10% Imperial stout that my son's pals took a liking to, nick of them after a couple was hilarious.

Greene king have been the mutulators of many a good pint.

They have also bought up most of the pubs aling the Thames where I sail, and replaced decent beer with their own mass produced horrific wares. There's nowhere worth stopping anymore. Hate the vet name of Greene king. A major reason I am against big business and their obsession with accumulating names.

Greene King pubs invariably are food pubs, where the beer is ancillary.

Hence why their ale is usually crap, as people go to their pubs for food and the beer hangs around for too long, going off.

I`d rather drink Newcastle Brown or Guniness before drinking anything Greene King have to offer.

Went the Morrisons on the weekend and bought a Black Sheep Choc and Orange stout and a Coach House Brewery blueberry bitter. Both sound a bit sickly but they were very nice. Flavours were subtle enough not to be too much.
