Bellamy Punches Fan?

Rook makes a good point above.

As for me, football supporters who invade the pitch should be beaten senseless until they learn to stop doing it.

again, i ask, does that also apply to players coming onto the terraces ?

when Cantona did his attack, for me he should've been banned for life, as far as i recall the fan was, so why not him. i don't care about the provocation, they have to live with the insults as it's what fans do to put them off their game, all part and parcel of the game imo.

btw i jumped the wall when kev the rat got a brucey bonus infront of the shabites on the wee mound, although it was a bit different as the crowd was spiiling off the terrace anyway due to overcrowding and people were being put in the aisles of the main stand, i happened to be in the right place at the right time for a dance infront of the dissillusioned mass of belters. not quite 'anorak man' from sharps goal but i enjoyed it, wish i'd run on and ruffled the clowns hair tbh.

So a fan got on the pitch, big deal.

The point here is, is that the stewards had the situation under control and were in the process of leading him back to the terraces when Bellamy went out of his way to get involved and then committed a physical assault.

I actually like Bellamy and think he's one of their best players, but he lost it and should be punished for it.

It is not the first time he has lost it. Well known for his temper. Trouble is, he is a damned good footballer when he puts his mind to it.

His second goal was awesome from that angle.

heard something on ssn saying he did it cos he thought the fan was gonna spit at him.

i hope the Guiness world record people were present as it would've been some golly to hit him from that far away. his excuse is as weak as their title aspirations.

Hughes defends Bellamy actions
Published 13:51 22/09/09 Pa Sports
Mark Hughes is adamant Craig Bellamy did not create a confrontation with a Manchester United fan at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Football Association are still deciding whether to bring any action against Bellamy for what appeared to be a shove in the face of a supporter, who had gone onto the pitch shortly after Michael Owen had scored in stoppage time.
"All Craig has done is go over there and tell the guy to get off the pitch," said Hughes.
Although Hughes' assistant Mark Bowen claimed Bellamy though he was about to be spat at, TV replays show the Welshman advancing towards the melee and that the fan was being held by two stewards when Bellamy struck out.
If the FA decide such conduct warrants a charge of violent conduct, it could mean a three-game ban for a player who has been embroiled in so much disciplinary trouble before.
However, Hughes is not expecting that to happen and has defended Bellamy's actions.
"Craig wasn't privy to how much time was left to enable us to get back into the game," added Hughes.
"The guy made an aggressive move towards him and Craig wanted to get him off the pitch. Craig just put a defensive hand out to push him away. You can never be quite sure what is going to happen in those situations.
"We have not been contacted by the FA but if we are, that is what we will say."

Doesnt half chat [Poor language removed] nowdays Hughes. Even his assistant tells a different story lol.

Shades of Stevie GBH "He was going to punch me first so I hit him 3 times..Not Guilty your honour" lol

Face facts. He was fumin, wanted to chin someone but didnt want to get sent off...saw rage that a fan was on the pitch rubbing salt into the wound and took it out on him.

Making it out that he was being all christian about the whole thing and "helping" the fan off the pitch isnt going to wash.

If he gets a banning Hughes will say "City are being hard done to because we're MASSIVE and we're making an impact. People are scared."

bellamey didnt need to worry about the fan becuase two stewards had him pinned when he decided to saunter over and slap him.

really brave, and hughes shouldnt defend him for this.

i would like to see a boxing match between the two instead of either getting banned.

Cantona should have at least been banned a year or two. Players should not be in the stands and fans should not be on the pitch.

Anyway, him and Neville both got slaps on the wrist for being very naughty boys.

I think they were going to give Bellamy a ban but the reff said he wouldnt have sent him off if he did see it anyway so....it was all fair game.

wow lads get soem reality here please - first off it wasnt after owen scored this happened it was when we was 3-2 down and we was waiting to restart the game.

bellers DIDNT punch the fan he shoved his head and any fan running onto the pitch deserves what he gets even if it was a city fan i would say the same because i dont like to see morons run on the pitch.

some are saying he deserves a ban for it ? well i think this is said because he is a city player or an ex liverpool player because bellamy has been immense since he joined us and not a minutes trouble.

i notice nothing has been said about garry neville running 50 YARDS AFTER OWEN SCORED to the city fans kissing his badge and goading the city fans and then pretend he was warming up when in fact he couldnt come on because united had already used 3 subs.

neville also ran onto the field of play when owen scored but im sure nothing will be said or done about that from anywhere?

as for hughes - ive been one of his biggest critics since he joined us but he has won me over because i actually agree with most stuff he has done and said of late(exept the lescottgate which i didnt agree with anything he said).

it just seems theres a bit of a witch hunt going on with everyone regarding city(not here im on about - well not all of you anyway) and we are just going to have to get used to it i suppose.

your kidding me

the more mark hughes opens his gob the more of a prat he makes of himself.

on the one hand his striker done nothing wrong running 100 yards to celebrate in front of opposition supporters but when gary neville (no fan of his by any stretch) does it he feels the need to have a moan. He should stop feeling he needs to comment about everything.
Yes neville should get the same ban as adabayour but he wont because he plays for utd.

He is there in the paper today saying utd are worried, of course they are city just spent over a 100 mill on players. He should be a brain surgeon or rocket scientist not a football manager.

it's a measure of bellends ego though that he presumes the guy was going for him, after all he was the highest profile player on the field wasn't he.

my money is on, "he wanted to give michael owen a big sloppy kiss for scoring whilst at the same time taking advantage of the opportunity to tweak his buns".

This gives me an idea for a game.

THE MAN CITY GYPO, JUDAS OR C*** GAME!
