Ben Foster on Everton fan negativity influencing opposition tactics

I would love to know how many times Foster has played at Goodison and how many of those games he has finidhed on the winning side.

@Zatara is this a type of stat FM players have access to?

I think I'd trust the opinion of an oppo player that's actually, you know, played at Goodison than some fan possibly causing the issue.

If you don't think a hostile environment puts off people like Keane then you've been in a coma.

And when Everton show heart and fight the fans at Goodison back their team. Now more intimidating place (even more than Analfield) for opponents then a bouncing Goodison.

But no one in the media is ever gonna say that although I remember Wenger saying it and annoyed the RS media

And it is becoming a bit of a trope now.

Tyrone Mings made disparaging remarks about us after the Villa game.

A seed has been planted by the RS media and Foster is buying into it.

I think I am right in saying that last season we lost the most home games in our history.

Most of those games were behind closed doors….the rest played out before a few thousand fans.

One would have thought that fact would have put paid to the “blame the fans” nonsense.
i attended one of those home games with just a few thousand fans and we beat arsenal 2-1 as well

the fans aren't the problem, its the players

I never said it was the norm. I also wasn't at said game so couldn't judge.

So you are making assertions based on what another team’s player says and you weren’t even at the game.

That’s even worse.

I am sick to desth of our own fans running with every negative thing the media or other team’s players say about EFC.

Did anyone see the clip from about a month ago?

He was saying he gets bombarded with missiles every time at Goodison, bottles, pizza(?) you name it etc.

The guy on the show seemed a bit skeptical but also said it must be the gwladys "is is the stand on the left when you come out the tunnel?" - "no the right, by the away fans, they're mental they don't stop it all game"

So yeah, think he's an over exaggerating biff.
The Park end daa's

Such quiet unasuming folks.

No he isn't - not sure you were listening. He was saying we are a ground where we can get into our own players heads.

Well that's more down the players being a bunch of cowards isn't it?

In my opinion the crowd get on the players cases when they produce absolute filth during the game. Let's get it right if the players went out every single game and every single player put in 100% the fans wouldn't be that arsed win lose or draw. All fans expect is the players to at least put a shift in, something we have lacked massively in recent times.

I just said, I wasn't discussing that one particular Watford game. I'm discussing what he's suggesting which is pretty obvious something that happens at Goodison - and other stadiums but we're not discussing those.

Yes? Where have I suggested the players play no part in it?

Players are bad > fans moan and yell > weak players hide away > we play worse > oppo teams know this and try hammer us and dominate early > players are bad.

We used to be a horrid place for opposition teams to come to, as lots say in the media, but I don't feel like teams fear coming to us now.

He’s obviously not wrong. And I have listened to Foster a number of times on pod casts and he comes across as one of the most honest footballers in terms of giving opinions and telling story’s as a player. A decent listen to be honest.

However if he and others expect fans to sit there clapping after continued garbage and half hearted performances he’s very much mistaken.
