Please stop this midfield stuff. He's so obviously a defender. His main strengths are one v one defending and top level pace, and his main weakness is passing the ball forwards. Why would we put someone with that skill set in midfield?

Well its not like he's found his long term position is it? He's looked best at LB so far yet Digne is too valuable to drop and Keane/Mina have built a solid partnership in both our box and the opponents this season so it would be harsh to drop either of them.

I cant see him playing in midfield btw im just saying I would like to see him given a game in that deep lying midfield position. Plenty of players who play CDM can play CB and vice versa, Henderson, Fabinho, Rice, Gbamin just off the top of my head.

Nothing controversial saying its worth a look at in the odd game.

Different types of player. Maguire is outstanding in the air. Other than that brain fart he had at Old Trafford caused by our goalie going forward we haven't troubled Man Utd from set pieces this season and that's because Maguire is outstanding in the air.
But he's still a big useless lump.

I disagree, if he was playing next to Rio Ferdinand they would be a great partnership. However Solksjaer keeps changing his partner, which means he ends up trying to be a 1 man defence.
Keeps changing his partner?

Mate he's literally had the same back 4 for 90% of the season, he's always with lindelof ( only recently for a few games was Bailly playing (

Man United fans don't even rate him, he's like a robot.

Him and Lindelof are solid. I know it's fashionable to knock Maguire, mainly because of the ridiculous fee they paid, but I think he's an outstanding centre half. It's a game of opinions.

He did play in midfield for some of his career so far, so it's understandable I suppose. Personally I think his future has to be at centre half. He has all the tools to be one of the best. I'm surprised that so many have said his passing is his weakness. I don't see it.

I think his positioning is his biggest weakness. When playing at centre half so far he's left gaps occasionally. Thankfully his pace can paper over the cracks usually but it's something he'll need to work on, and will get better at.

He's made a few mistakes at centre half definitely, but he has improved since the autumn.

He will end up as a centre half I've no doubt, but he's very solid at full back when given a specific defensive minded role. He is great 1 v 1 and extremely strong when he commits to a tackle. There are no half hearted legs dangled or anything like that.

There's nothing wrong with using him in different roles depending on what we need or who is injured. If he needs to play regularly at full back I'm quite happy to be honest.

What they've all got in common is they're centre mids who dropped back, not the other way round. Jags is another who did that. Remember Rodwell... arguably it didn't go too well for him moving forward

I agree like, would be boring it everyone else has the same opinion etc.

Think he's a big horrible dog myself but hey ho

True but I wouldnt rule him out doing a decent job there with his attributes when called upon. I think CB will be his long term position myself but cant see him displacing either Keane or Mina at present other than the occasional rotation.

Was having a morning stroll through the vaults and found this gem.
Might be worth ignoring our goals conceded tally with him at CB for a bit.

I say it about Holgate and I'll probably be in the same spot with Godfrey for awhile too: I don't know how good they are.
