Always been a bit iffy with his positioning but looks very sluggish, Wonder if he’s suffering from long covid after having it preseason, do we reckon he’s had the jab or not
 
Benitez seems to be playing him in the hope he gets match fit quickly.

Shows he has a lot of faith in him.

Very harsh to single him out today, ignoring anything else hes clearly not got his acceleration and was out of position.

Hopefully next week against Norwich hes next to Mina at CB.
 
….I like him lots but wouldn’t make excuses today, I thought he was very poor.

I always think if you’re playing in a different position the first thing to do is concentrate on getting the better of your direct opponent. Do that & you know you’re positionally ok. Today he was caught in no-man’s land and easy to go past.

Yeah, I love him, but I think he's still some way from being the player we all know he can be. He was out of position today and probably not quite up to speed after a disrupted pre-season, but still needs to work on his positioning. Hopefully with more experience it all comes together.

Will be amazed if he plays next week tbh.
 

Tonight's performance has shown he is definitely not a RB. I would rather he played in the middle and Kenny played at RB. Both aren't up to standard at RB so no difference there and at least Godfrey would have had more pace at CB than Keane. Playing deep invited them onto us. If he's not fit enough to play CB he is even less suited to RB where you need even more stamina.
 
After 90 minutes he's "not a RB".

Lol.

His first half performance was more than decent then Digne's head went and the whole team are struggling to stay in shape.

Dont be surprised to see Godfrey start against Norwich at RB next weekend. The manager knows what he's capable of there.
 

Never a right back, but he has got pace to die for when fully fit centre half that's it don't play him anywhere else ffs
 
The players are always going on about the exact positions that Benitez wants them in during games - he’ll stop training to go and move a player a yard to the left or right.

And then Godfrey is about 20 yards too far over for that third goal? Strange.
