Disappointing when they don't show. It should be compulsory to attend when injured although they should want to be there anyway.View attachment 182576
….good seeing him at the game, I like it when injured players still want to be part of things.
He should come on leaps and bounds playing with Coady. He should learn tons from him
I know you've always been a fan of his Eggs and I certainly thought he had potential, but he can't head, or pass a ball, and in the modern game you have to be either the Centre half who can head, or the one who can bring the ball out, and he is neither. Not sure where his future lies, maybe as a backup full back or substitute DMC to bring on when you're trying to shut up shop.….i’d be very disappointed if Godfrey doesn’t improve lots from playing alongside Coady or Tarkowski & being under the management of Lampard.
With the physical attributes he has, I can see him being first in the queue behind those two.
Defo, he’s got Tarko there to learn off as well.
I don’t think Godfrey starts but he makes our bench arguably, debatably, possibly very marginally stronger.

….I think that’s fair, Matey, I also think he’s weak aerially but we’ve had CBs like Ratcliffe and Jagielka who got away with not being the strongest headers of a ball. i also agree he needs to be more composed in possession but he’s certainly no worst than Holgate & tends to be ‘safe’ rather than reckless.
What I like is his raw physicality. Blokes like him are a nightmare to play against, but he’s just too full-on at the moment. I accept he’s been largely disappointing, but he’s the type who can get better with age (they calm down) and I’ve not given up on him.
I mean Coady isn’t great in the air but is playing well. Think he’ll learn a lot this year with Holgate. Mina and Keane can go.
….I think we have to factor Branthwaite into future plans, he could actually be the best of the whole bunch.
Maybe, but he’s 20, got all the time in the world.
…looks a bit of a Rolls Royce in that he’s faster than appears, rarely loses a foot race despite being in third gear. Competitive, left-sided, decent in possession, strong aerially and a threat in the opposition box.
Very exciting prospect is Branthwaite.
He is but like I say, he’s 20, let’s not waste him riding the bench. Played in a tough EL fixture last night, stays here next season and he’s getting splinters.

Fully agree. He’s got a bit of a look of De Ligt about him. If he can develop in anything like the same way then it’ll look very promising. Hopefully he’ll get plenty of game time in the 2nd half of the season.
I like Godfrey. I’ve always liked pace and physicality in defenders. I’m hoping he’ll learn some composure and improve on his concentration and decision making from playing with Coady in particular.
I’ve never been a fan of Holgate. He’d be the 1st to go for me, along with Keane. I like Mina but he can’t stay fit so makes sense to let him go too.
