Should we see the positives in Benitez work at Everton?

He completely destroyed the team and coached all the football out of them. He got us into the worst losing run of our PL history and that's hard to snap out of. The players were already fragile and now their morale and confidence is on the floor. Only wins will change that but it's hard to win when players play with so much fear.
I think that this is spot on.

Lampard has a squad lacking in belief and half a season playing anti-football with virtually no success for the majority of it due to fsw. I hope that Lampard and the new coaching staff can keep us up. If he starts by trying to find answers and solutions to our problems and finding a way to succeed then he will be infinity superior to the oaf who was here before him.

Benitez's legacy will hopefully just be that he's forgotten about and nothing worse. A worse appointment than Allardyce or even Walker. A very grave mistake to ever even entertain his appointment, let alone hire him.

I've never known a manager to receive so much abuse in all my life. Before he officially signed he was getting death threats, at the club whilst he was dealing with a multitude of problems he was constantly abused, after he left he was still getting flamed on social media with threats telling him to die, after we beat a lacklustre Brentford side, fans were calling him all the names under the sun, now we lose in Lampard second game and its all Rafas fault. Best fans in the world.
Any wonder the team have no confidence after Benitez was in charge.
He is by far the worst manager in my time watching Everton,
I never thought I would see a manager Mike Walker could say he was better than but, sadly I was wrong .
Said it before Xmas it was heading that way .
Constantly playing a way that wasn't producing results then doing it again .
I was all for giving him time , the club is a basket case,
not all down to him.,by any means.
The problems were there before he came but ,it was obvious the fella was a busted flush hadn't a new idea in his arsenal and was making the situation worse.
It will take some turning around to take us out of the death spin he has put in.
Lampard has been here a week he isn't a miracle worker,
I hope he can get a few results, not sure if he can myself quick enough.
Don't agree with death threats ect, he was just the wrong person at the wrong time.
I am sure if he had the skills to be successful he would have used them., sadly the game has moved on and so should we.

Death threats and abuse should really be ignored only small minded people resort to that kind of behaviour, there's lots of them about. It's only a bag of wind after all. I would conclude though purely as an Everton supporter that Benitez was an unmitigated disaster, worst appointment in the clubs history. When he was appointed I never understood why he even wanted the job I suspect it was for him a 6 month contract in which he got paid a full contract. We were in a mess and he compounded that mess. Don't have any ill feeling toward him but glad to see the back of him.

Sorry, but if you think he has come to us essentially for a pay off, then why would you have no ill feeling toward him?

If he came for the money, he didn't care about results as wanted sacked. He has therefore taken us for a ride and put us in real relegation trouble (which is what the 'agent Rafael' shouts are about). You should hate him for that.

I don't hate him mate, I'ts a game of football after all. Not life and death.

1 win in 14 games. Benitez deserved to be sacked. You can't defend that sort of record, and it will be the reason we go down, if this can't be turned around. Once you go into a slide like that then things spiral out of control.

How will it be the reason we go down? Lampard will have had the same amount of games and had 2 new wing backs, 2 new midfielders and a new winger to utilise.

So far played 1, lost 1.

The players are terrible but they are a midtable squad who should be 9th-12th or so, not slap bang in trouble.

And I'm not judging Lampard after 2 matches. Especially since he inherited a team who have been absolutely ruined by the negative tactics and outdated methods of the previous boss.

Negative tactics and outdated methods. Let's see how those methods work at his next club.

He inherited a side in the worst run of form in our PL history. Confidence and morale are on the floor and we waited too long to change.

When a side is used to losing every week and is terrified stepping out onto the pitch, it's hard to fix that.

I agree he should never have taken the job. The reality is though that the job was bigger than him and the amount of time he would have been afforded to sort it based in the fans being on his back on day 0. This job will take a manager a couple of years to sort out. We have too many passengers in the squad, too much deadwood and it needs clearing before we can develop a better squad.

How is that so, literally 2 days ago people on here were saying that team morale is sky high, Lampard smile is infectious, the players are already playing better and working harder.

Now we lose and its back to Rafael being the problem. Rafael didn't choose that first 11 yesterday, he didn't choose those tactics or make those subs.

I enjoyed the win but it meant nothing for the league. It was a distraction.

The losing run under Benitez is a fact. Teams who go 1 win in 14 are low on confidence and when morale is rock bottom, it's hard to win. This is hardly ground breaking stuff I'm telling you.

If Benitez had been sacked after the derby, as he should have been, Lampard would have had 6 weeks to get ideas into the players by now. I reckon we'd be well clear by now.

No, he infected the club with his malaise - he was kept on far too long and any manager is going to need several games to steady us.

Unfortunately the rot may have set in too deep to save us this season
