The entire episode with Benitez is just a little microcosm of modern day Everton support (largely the online sector) sadly.

Influenced far too much by what the kopite media tells them is or isn’t good for the club.

Shape everything in terms of their embarrassment vis-à-vis their kopite mates rather than assessing a situation rationally.

Are only ever one or two games of dropped points away from starting to talk about what other manager would have been a better fit

Always looking for a magic silver bullet quick fix rather than giving any manager the time to work

Can’t accept the simple logical results of having a very poor group of players beset by constant injuries doesn’t result in sweeping away PL teams on a consistent basis with nice football

Benitez was just a convenient excuse for them and their behaviour which has persisted under every manager in the Moshiri era and is raising its head again. We could have had a modern day Kendall in the dugout these past 12 months and under the same circumstances it wouldn’t have been any different. They’d have still all been agitating for his exit as soon as a few games were lost and giving these rancid players and our pathetic board a convenient sacrificial lamb to hide behind.

It was fun to blame it all on the ex kopite for a while, made everyone feel better, a few could puff their chest out about how boss a blue they were, but ultimately it just delayed the core problems at the club being resolved by anyone (whether that be Ancelotti, Benitez, Lampard) who is allowed the time to do so.

I’ve said it before, everyone is all spirit of the blues with Lampard until he loses a game or two and then it’s straight into questioning his position. It’s the same lot all the time, they can’t help it, I called them the constant gardeners in the past, all the time cutting the head off a weed wondering why it grows back again but they either can’t see how to break the cycle or won’t accept what is required.

Thelwell plus Lampard, three seasons, these players out, their players in before any more managers get fired. It’s that simple.
1 win in 13. You are kidding with all this right? How many games would we have had to lose before you would have wanted him gone? You and yours would have had us in the championship and still would have been saying he was the right man.

I mean I actually agree with a lot of what you’re saying, but it comes across as making a case for Benitez? He is a past it manager with a difficult personality, also clearly a kopite who has made at best half arsed attempts to respect this club in the “I’m sorry you feel that way” mould.

The problems run far deeper than the manager but he exacerbated those problems. Let’s all learn some lessons now. We all want the best for our Everton.

Own it.

You backed the man who gave us the worst run in our history then very nearly took us down. He did his best for it.

He posts taunting messages after the RS win a trophy.

You supported all this, you willed it on and tonight by Christ we have washed ourselves clean of that Kopite filth.

Enjoy the win lad.

Just come back from Goodison looking like a Smurf with my 6 year old lad absolutely buzzing.

Be arsed arguing with fellow Blues tonight tbh

I will enjoy it, you shouldn’t. If you had your way your lad wouldn’t have seen a night like that.

But anyway, hope your lad enjoyed it and bounces into school tomorrow.
