People love saying this but we really don't. Our creative players being poor is a big problem right along side central midfield and right back. Whether it is finding someone on Bernard's side or Walcott's side I don't care but we need another option in those areas.

Higher profile doesnt always = better player.

But I'd say it pretty much always causes a players value to increase

Several of our players are on silly £ and Bernard is one. He isn’t world class, but he is our most skilful midfielder and offers moments of excitement that some never do, combined with a good work ethic that some don’t have. His goals return is disappointing, but I would certainly play him in most games with the players we have.

I'm not considering 'the depressed market' idea because nobody actually knows whats going to happen at the minute do they.

We paid 30 million for Pickford as an unknown kid.

Whether you rate him or not, he is now Englands number 1 and has a much higher profile than he did when we bought him.

You think selling a player for less than you bought him for when he hasnt even reached his peak yet is a good deal??

I imagine a lot, the prem alone is littered with better keepers that cost a fraction of pickfords fee, just because Walsh and moon head were a bit loose with the cheque book doesn’t make it the norm.

Buy a actual decent backup who can put pressure on him. Right. Because he's not playing as well as you'd like him to because if only he had a backup putting pressure on him. Because Alisson is being "pushed" by Adrian, and Ederson is being pushed by Bravo Right

I think we're debating two different things here.

The fact that he has made a few cock ups in the last few years hasnt stopped his profile increasing tenfold.

I think your argument is that he hasnt improved ability-wise since we signed him, which is a fair shout. But the fact that his reputation and profile in the game has increased so much in those years means his value is now much higher, thats what im getting at.

Anyway, as someone else mentioned, we're in the Bernard thread so enough about Pickford!

Well, we do.

We need to score more goals and unless you think Richarlison and Dom are going to go from high teens to mid to high 20s next year some of that needs to come off of the wings. It would take some seriously good signings elsewhere for a window that ignores the position to be a strong one imo.
